Social Mobilization for Transformation (SMOT) are a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation working towards contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Malawi Growth Development Strategy.

2021: £800 to support  the construction of a girls toilet and changing room at Kawangwi primary school, Dowa.

SMOT called the project “Nditha” meaning “I can go back to school”. The ‘I can’ project aims to motivate girls who dropped out of classes due to poor hygiene and sanitation at the school. The construction of the decent toilets and changing rooms will increase girls’ enrolment at the school and the girls’ interest for school in completing their primary education as well as reduced incidences of forced and early marriages.

SMOT is very thankful for the financial support it received from Friends of Malawi Association which has enabled the organization to facilitate the construction of a decent toilet and change rooms at Kawangwi primary school in Dowa district in Malawi.
