The Patients Support Association is a Malawi Youth Association formed in 2018 and designed to eradicate basic needs challenges that admitted patients face in public hospitals as well as proactively mobilize the communities on the precautionary measures of various diseases emanating from hygiene, nutrition and infection across Malawi.
2022: £1,000 to implement a project called ‘Our Toilet Our Pride’ at Balaka District hospital involving promoting improved sanitation and dignity for patient’s guardians through the construction of two single pit latrines.
The works were officially completed in July 2022 and an official handover was attended by the hospital management team, the media, Chairperson of the guardian shelter section and PSA members. In his speech, the District Commissioner thanked PSA and FOMA for the efforts made to have the hospital assisted with this facility which will promote hygiene/sanitation practices at the section and the whole hospital at large.
