VSO Project: NAPHAM, Dowa

A grant of £250 was awarded to support the development of a Youth Resource Centre within the National Association of People Living with HIV and AIDS Malawi, NAPHAM office in Dowa.

500 copies of second books were bought and an extra 13 cartons of magazines were sourced from Pakachere in Blantyre. From the National AIDS Commission we sourced calendars, poster, stickers, magazines and video documentaries, which can be viewed by the youth who visit the resource centre.

Whenever the youth visit the centre, they will get access to other services provided by NAPHAM, including but not limited to advice and referrals on HIV Testing and Counselling, and for those who test HIV positive, there will be an opportunity to join Young Plus Support groups for psychosocial support to ensure positive living; including drug adherence, better nutrition and income generation.
