A grant of £1,000 was awarded in August 2016, through Action for Sustainable Development to supply 30 desks to Mtende primary school, north-east of Mzuzu.
At the handover ceremony Amon Chavula, the District Education Manager, said a conducive learning environment is key to achieving quality education in any country including Malawi and thanked ASUD management for the donation which he said was timely.
On his part, ASUD Executive Director Thomas Ngwira said his organization sourced the donation to improve the learning environment of pupils at the school and said his organisation purchased the furniture with funding from the Friends of Malawi Association.
“Let me thank ASUD for the timely donation of 30 desks to Mtende primary school. These desks will assist in motivating learners especially girls to remain in school. This is not the first time for ASUD to assist the school, they (ASUD) also helped us in the construction of permanent pit latrines with sanitary wares and a banana orchard,” said DEM Chavula.
