Child Legacy International Inc. is a Christian non-profit organization working in Africa to transform lives by providing support and opportunities to break the generational cycle of poverty and despair

2020 : £1,000 to help implement a prototype drip irrigation for two thousand macadamia trees. This project was a collaboration between Child Legacy International (CLI) who contributed 70% of the total project cost with the community contributing 2% in the form of labour support and FOMA contributing the remaining financial assistance to purchase the irrigation equipment.

“All project objectives were attained – 10 farmer clubs have been established with 15 members each and CLI will be able to cut down, by 70%, its monthly wage bill for macadamia irrigation works”

The irrigation system was procured from Water pumps and Other Tools for Africa (WOTA), who had recently worked with the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) where they installed drip irrigation for paprika, Irish potatoes and strawberries for a climate smart innovation project. WOTA also provided a one year after installation maintenance free of charge.
